Michelangelo’s unfinished business

Michelangelo was human after all, and like the rest of us, he sometimes started projects that he did not or could not finish. He was motivated not just by art, but by money, too, and he didn’t always keep his promises.

I am happy that he was flawed — his incomplete work is as fascinating and as he masterpieces. I love seeing his work in progress and having an idea of how it was done. A great example of this are his Slaves, sculptures which he began but never finished. It is amazing to the forms in the process of coming out of the rock and coming to life.

Focus on the unfinished Slaves on the sides of the hallway leading up the his greatest work — The David. Which ones have a greater impact on you? Explain in post below.
