Michelangelo’s David, part II: Stand upright, and be strong

DSCN1386.JPGAbove, a sign at the Museo dell’opera del Duomo — what a location.

Many artistic depictions of the David and Goliath story show David after the fight, with Goliath’s head in hand, but Michelangelo’s statue seems to be of David before the fight, with rock and slingshot in hand and victory in mind. David’s not afraid, instead he has complete confidence in himself and in his ability to defeat Goliath. I hope that you guys are this confident when you face challenges in your lives, too.

Stand upright, and be strong, kids.
