When we first learned about the GRAPES of Social Studies (Geography, Religion, Art/Architecture/Achievements, Political Systems, Economic Systems, Social Classes) we learned about the many different ways that geography can impact a society. When we studied the Neolithic Revolution, we learned about the role that rivers and soil played in man and womankind’s change from a nomadic to a sedentary lifestyle, when we studied the early river valley civilizations, we learned about four great early civilizations that developed because of their location on rivers.
Likewise, Rome grew to a great empire in part because of its location on the Tiber River. What are some reasons that the Tiber may have helped Rome grow from village to empire? Let me know in a post below.
