Synagogues in Tangier

dscn0765

I visited a 100 year-old synagogue in Tangier, Morocco. A synagogue is where Jewish people go to pray, like a church for Christians or a mosque for Muslims. When this synagogue was built, there were almost 20 synagogues in Tangier, now there are only three.

Which of the GRAPES (Geography, Religion, Art/Architecture/Achievements, Political System, Economic System and Social Structure) do you think this would fall under? Respond and explain your answer in a post below.

    1. That’s an excellent question, Jelly. I love your curiosity. It’s complicated — men are expected to cover their heads in a synagogue, but some synagogues are stricter than others, just like in school some teachers are stricter than others about talking in class or not hanging your backpack up on the hooks.
