La Mezquita de Cordoba

La Mezquita, which means “mosque” in Spanish, is one of the world’s great buildings. It was built in the 8th century after the Moors conquered the Iberian Peninsula. In the middle of this great mosque is a cathedral, dating back to the 16th century, but before the cathedral and before the Mezquita, there was a church from the 4th century on this site.

How would you describe the sequence of events at this location — church to mosque to church again? And now a major tourist destination.

Which one of the GRAPES (Geography, Religion, Art/Architecture/Achievements, Political Systems, Economics, Social Structure) would you put this under and why?

Explain your answer in a post below!
